ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL MYYYYYY LIIIIIIIFE

l-r: Maggie Horn, Sammy Bananas

MAAAAAAAN THIS SONG IS SO FREAKING GOOD. In my attempts to destroy the music genre of bangers by introducing a lot more tech, minimal, world house, garage, and UK funky into my sets, this is the track that i think will win the battle for me. This track has the right vibe to make everyone happy and pumped to be out. The references to The Cranberries - Dreams are rad. I thought they couldn't get any better. All of a sudden its like HOLY SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY TOTALLY OWN MY EARS AGAIN!

If you haven't heard of Telephoned, its the amazing pairing of Sammy Bananas and Maggie Horn, and most of their stuff is covers of hip hop tracks, which all sound amazing (even the somewhat dubstep re-do of Soulja Boi's Turn My Swag On). They came up on my radar when they made a version of T-Pain's Can't Believe It. Maggie Horn's vocals are so fucking cute and nice on every cut and Sammy's production is so nice and fun and bouncy, when combined you have this sense of euphoria and happiness wash over you.

In the end, this song HAS to do well. There is no reason why this can't be a d-floor filler. Forget bangers. Remember this.

its like good and stuff

Ok so like if my friends didn't keep on going on about how the new Yeasayer album is shit, I wouldn't have been so slow on realising how wrong they were. The thing i find with them is that their tracks upon first listens never really draw you in. But after a while you have this craving to listen to them again and then all of a sudden Ambling Amp is like going way up your top 25 most played song on your itunes. True story.

Their new single, O.N.E., is possibly the most frustrating piece of brilliance ever. why? You spend 2 and a half minutes with this amazing little track, then the falsetto kicks in and you feel like they should have had that from the start. If someone was to remix this they'd be smart and let that falsetto take over the whole track (edit: the XXXchange remix lets the falsetto take over a fiar bit of the track and is totes good). Here's the video. If you get bored fast forward to 2:35 and get blown away by that falsetto bro.

Also, my boy Rob Pix made a really good, much more dj friendly re-rub of Major Lazer's When You Hear The Bassline. its the little differences in his mix that makes it a bit more fun for the club. trust me on this one.

STREETPARTY LIVE FROM SWICK'S GARAGE!

L-R: Girl Streetparty probs jousted, Streetparty

Hugh Waters, aka Streetparty, is our boss, so we have only nice things to say about him. He has kept me (Tranter) on his lineups since I started djing just over 5 years ago. And he has been booking Swick since he was young (he still is young). He has put on legendary parties and gone through about a million musical movements, from indie to indie-disco to indie-electro to electro to fidget to disco to dutch to afro to hip hop to bmore to EVERYTHING KNOWN TO HIPSTERS THE CITY OVER.

So we asked Streetparty to play a little dj set of what he is digging right now. It ranges from Renaissance Man remixes, Afrojack bangers, Lil Wayne rapping over Black Eyed Peas, and finishes with one of the greatest and coolest bands ever, Murder City Devils. It is a dope mix that may educate you and if it doesnt then you are too cool for school.
